Spelligent is a new charter school system that is in the application phase. The main concept that this logo illustrates is that Spelligent welcomes ALL children and helps them by breaking away from traditional school practices. ALL children are represented by the variety of dots as they bounce away from the straight rows and columns.
The logo needed to work with and without a tagline, as well as with the state marker (TX), and with both the state and the tagline.
The grid of circles is an icon for social media use.
And the last item you’ll see here is the 2nd place winner. This was one of those times where we worked on two versions of the logo throughout the project. And it wasn’t until the very end that the client chose to go with the dots. I’m including this variation here because I love it (though I agree that they made the best decision by going with the dots) and because it shows how very different things can turn out given the same set of instructions (and the same designer even!)
